The Douglas County Attorney's Office said Tuesday it will not file criminal charges against a woman shot by an Omaha police officer.
Paula K. Moen, 52, is mentally ill, the office said.
Moen was shot May 9 at her mother's residence after she threatened officers with a knife and 12-gauge flare gun.
She has been released from the hospital. Moen faced possible charges of assaulting a police officer and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
Police were called to the Madonna J. Runco residence because of a disturbance involving Runco and Moen, who was playing loud music and refused to turn it down.
Police said when Moen raised a flare gun, she was shot once in the chest by Officer Jodi Sautter.
