Warmer air floating into Nebraska and Iowa is expected to bring chances of rain throughout the Memorial Day weekend.
Paul Walker, a meteorologist with AccuWeather, said that Thursday should be dry, with a high of 70 degrees.
But chances of rain return Friday and persist through Monday.
"We expect Friday to be a partly sunny day, but there might be a shower or thunderstorm rolling through as well, especially with the return of warm air," Walker said.
The high Friday and Saturday will be near 75. Sunday and Monday should be the warmest days of the holiday weekend, with highs in the low 80s.
Showers, however, will linger in the area and across the western Plains states.
"People need to keep an eye on the sky," Walker said. "We're talking pretty normal weather patterns for this time of year when the high is typically 77 and the low is 55."
