CENTER, Neb. — A 17-year-old rural Verdigre youth has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor for hosting a party that led to a Niobrara teen's hospitalization.
Knox County Attorney John Thomas said the party May 4 near Niobrara was in conjunction with high school graduation. A couple of teens transported a drunk 15-year-old boy to the Lynch hospital.
The boy was taken from there to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk and then Children's Hospital in Omaha.
At one point, the boy was placed in an induced coma. The boy suffered from near asphyxiation from inhaling vomit into his lungs, the county attorney said.
The boy has since been released from Children's Hospital.
Thomas said he is still waiting on some medical records. The incident was investigated by the Knox County Sheriff's Office and additional charges may be filed against other individuals, he said.
