Five western Iowa teams and 11 individuals have qualified for the first five-class girls state golf meet in Iowa, which begins a two-day run on Tuesday at three sites across the state.
The Class 3-A and 4-A meets are at the Ames Golf and Country Club. Council Bluffs Lewis Central's Kayla Redeker is the lone 4-A qualifier. In 3-A, top-rated Carroll Kuemper, No. 7 Atlantic and Clarinda out of the Hawkeye Ten Conference have advanced. Individual qualifiers from regional meets include 12th-rated Mara Masching and seventh-rated Morgan Naberhaus of Kuemper, and fourth-rated Brooke Fletcher and Bailey Walter of Atlantic.
The Class 1-A and 2-A meets are at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown. In 2-A, third-rated Audubon advanced along with four individuals: second-rated Susie Bylund and Lexie Thygesen of Audubon, Shelby Williams of CAM/Adair-Casey and third-rated Taylor Gardner of Missouri Valley. In 1-A, fourth-rated Corning was the lone WI team to qualify, while 12th-rated Kaleigh Westlake of Corning and Serena Robinette of Griswold advanced.
No 5-A golfers advanced from western Iowa. Shotgun start times have been changed to noon at Marshalltown and Ames.
