Finalists for The World-Herald's Nebraska high school athletes of the year awards. Those previously named were Michaela Mestl of Kearney Catholic, McKenzie Brown of Grand Island Northwest, Michaela Barry of Norfolk Catholic, Mikaela Shaw of Sandy Creek, Alyssa Frauendorfer of Humphrey, Nate Rogers of South Sioux City, Nathan Bazata of Howells-Dodge, Josh Banderas of Lincoln Southwest, Luke McNitt of Kearney and Tra-Deon Hollins of Omaha Central. The winners will be announced Sunday.

Abby Ortmeier, West Point Guardian Angels Central Catholic: The senior had 308 kills for the state runner-up Bluejays to earn a spot on the Class D-1 all-state volleyball team and was a first-team Class D-1 selection in basketball while averaging 13.4 points per game.
Kenzo Cotton, Papillion-La Vista: At this year's state track meet, the junior added the 100-meter state record to the 200 record he set at the 2012 meet, then ran anchor as the Monarchs smashed the state record in the 400 relay. He was a starting defensive back for the Monarchs in football and has Division I offers in both sports.
