Rugby Nebraska is sending an all-star team to compete this weekend in the Rocky Mountain Challenge, the biggest high school rugby tournament in the country.
Twenty-seven players are on the roster for the event in Aurora, Colo.
Hanco Germishuys, a captain of the high school All-America junior varsity team, is playing for the Omaha squad. He’s had a chance to compete in international matches for the U.S.
Heartland of America of Kansas won the tournament last year. The All-Stars lost to them by one try in a warmup game on Tuesday.
“This is the most talented team we’ve ever taken out. From 1 to 15, the boys are athletic and know the game,’’ coach Sam Comfort said. “We hope to have a few players selected for the U.S. team.’’
