DES MOINES — UNO’s Sami Spenner set two personal records and one wind-aided career best time through four events in the first day of the heptathlon at the U.S. track and field outdoor championhips at Drake Stadium.
Spenner sits in 12th place out of 17 competitors with 3,414 points. She started the day with a wind-aided time of 13.94 in the 100 meter hurdles. Spenner then set personal records in the shot put with a throw of 38-6 and the 200 meters with a time of 23.67.
Heptathlon competition continues Friday starting with the long jump.
