A 37-year-old Valmont Industries employee was critically injured early Monday in an industrial accident at the irrigation equipment production facility west of Omaha in Valley, Neb.
Douglas County emergency 911 dispatch reports indicated that the man was injured about 3:20 a.m. after some type of a crane rolled over him. Reports also indicated that the man suffered injuries to the right side of his chest.
He was taken by medical helicopter in critical condition to Nebraska Medical Center.
Jeff Laudin, manager of investor relations at Valmont, said the accident occurred on one of the plant's manufacturing lines.
He did not have a condition update later Monday on the five-year employee or his name nor hometown.
“We're still looking into what happened,'' Laudin said.
The Valley plant also manufactures light-pole standards and guard-rail materials that are distributed worldwide.
