Three more sluggers have been announced from the field of eight participating in this year's College Home Run Derby at Omaha's TD Ameritrade Park.
Michael Aquino hit nine home runs for Rice in 2013, which tied the team high. Aquino and the Owls were a game away from advancing to the College World Series, but they lost in 17 innings to North Carolina State.
Bo Thompson, a 235-pound first baseman and designated hitter for The Citadel, hit 14 home runs in his sophomore season. He had a personal Derby-esque performance when he hit three homers in a 12-3 victory over Samford.
Matt Gonzalez of Georgia Tech is the fourth Atlantic Coast Conference player in the field. He earned freshman All-America honors and hit three home runs with the Yellow Jackets in his first year.
Previously named to the field were Virginia's Kenny Towns, Clemson's Garrett Boulware and Florida State's DJ Stewart. The final two participants will be announced by @CollegeHRDerby on Twitter before July 1. The home run-hitting contest begins at 7:30 p.m. on July 3.
