DENISON, Iowa — Roger Sailer has been appointed Crawford County attorney to fill the position after Michael Mundt’s retirement July 1.
In April, Mundt announced his retirement from the county attorney’s position, effective July 1.
After Mundt announced his retirement in April, the Crawford County board elected to appoint his replacement and also to give the new county attorney full-time status.
Sailer’s appointment was made effective last week with a unanimous vote by the county board.
The public has until July 16 to petition for a special election. Petition signatures must equal at least 10 percent of votes cast in the 2012 presidential election in Crawford County.
Sailer had served as an assistant Crawford County attorney.
His new position becomes full time Aug. 1.
