Sarpy County authorities on Sunday identified the Gretna man shot and killed at his home the previous day as William H. Braesch Jr., 66.
Lt. Steve Grabowski of the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office said the shooting was being investigated as a homicide and that the suspect was in custody. He declined to identify the suspect.
“We're still interviewing people, still talking to witnesses,” he said.
However, according to emergency dispatch reports, the victim was shot by his son. And an official at the Sarpy County Jail confirmed Sunday that Steven R. Braesch, 40, was being held there.
Authorities were called to the house at 11534 234th St. about 7:45 p.m. Saturday.
The shooting was reported by the victim's wife, who told a 911 dispatcher that her husband was shot with a rifle.
