An off-duty officer working security early Saturday at a north Omaha restaurant chased a shooting suspect, police said.
The victim, Jerrell D. Jackson, 24, has a life-threatening injury, police said. He was driven in a private vehicle to Creighton University Medical Center.
Officers arrested Rashee Harris, 23, the man police accuse of shooting Jackson at Chi-Town Chicken, 22nd and Lake Streets.
Harris was booked on suspicion of first-degree assault, use of a weapon, possession of a stolen firearm and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
The off-duty officer, Antwone L. Finch, and other officers ran after Harris and arrested him at 25th Street and Lizzie Robinson Avenue, about two blocks from the restaurant.
Jackson was uncooperative with officers, the spokesman said.
