Rex Burkhead gets camera time on 'Hard Knocks'

Husker fans eagerly awaiting a glimpse of former Nebraska running back Rex Burkhead in his NFL colors didn't have to wait long.

But they didn't get much after the opening minutes.

The first scene of HBO's newest season of “Hard Knocks” featured Burkhead, a couple of Cincinnati Bengals teammates and position coach Hue Jackson at a restaurant.

Burkhead and fellow rookie Giovani Bernard listened as Jackson gave them a warning about training camp.

“This is a competition,” Jackson said. “You've got to bring your 'A' game. I mean, these are a bunch of grown men who are going to fight to keep their jobs, and your job is to take a job.”

It was the only scene that Burk≠head, selected by the Bengals in the sixth round, was featured prominently in. Bernard, the team's second-round pick, got quite a bit of camera time.

As did former Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro James Harrison, now with Cincinnati. One of the scariest men in the league showed his disdain for HBO's cameras on more than one occasion.

What else will folks be talking about from the season premiere?

There was safety Taylor Mays' infatuation with a teammate's hypothetical question about what two super powers he'd pick.

“What is Wonder Woman's power?” Mays asked.

And the minivan that Bernard is driving during his first training camp.

The episode's best moment, though, was the team's Oklahoma drill. The final matchup between tight end Jermaine Gresham and defensive lineman Geno Atkins spilled into teammates and had both the offense and defense claiming a win.
