Last week, we wrote about Omaha mural painting company A Midsummer's Mural that's working to create a public art gallery along the Leavenworth Street business corridor in Midtown by transforming empty walls on the exterior of businesses into bright pieces of art.
An artist who is part of that group has another mural in the works. And he is looking for help.
Mike Giron, an independent Omaha artist and painter with A Midsummer's Mural, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to paint a “triangulation” mural on the side of Midwest Photo Pro at 4314 Leavenworth Street. This mural differs from many in the city because it's about the design, with sharp lines that play with your eyes as you look at it.
The crowdfunding campaign is live now until September 4 and Giron hopes to begin mural production in early September.
Ultimately, Giron said in an email, projects like this could beautify the area and spur new art galleries, artist studios, restaurants, coffee houses and more.
“You never know,” he said, “maybe it will become a gem in Omaha's list of attractions.”
