An Illinois man suffered injuries in a semitrailer accident Saturday in Cass County.
Piotr Brzozowski, 47, of Carol Stream, Ill., was westbound on Interstate 80 in a 2007 Volvo semi when he became distracted, the Iowa State Patrol said. The truck left the roadway and went into the north ditch. Brzozowski tried to steer out of the ditch and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to turn onto its right side and slide onto the Interstate.
The truck blocked both westbound lanes of I-80 for about two hours. The accident occurred around 11:18 a.m.
An ambulance transported Brzozowski to Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic for treatment. Authorities cited the driver for failure to maintain control.
