A man kidnapped his estranged wife from a Lincoln business at gunpoint Saturday after restraining two witnesses inside, police said.
The couple left in a sedan. It was not known where Dwayne M. Lawrence, 37, and Julie Hanes, 38, are. They may be in a gold 1998 Chrysler Concorde with Nebraska license plate TKA 048.
The couple may be headed to Imperial, Neb., or to Denver, said Lincoln Police Capt. Danny Reitan. Lawrence went to the business, a hair salon near 27th and O Streets, about noon.
A judge in July had issued a protection order prohibiting Lawrence from contacting Hanes.
In a document seeking the order, Hanes described several arguments they'd had on whether to continue their marriage. During one fight, she said, he fired a bullet into their bedroom wall.
Lawrence is awaiting the resolution of a criminal case connected to some of those incidents. He was charged in July with first-degree false imprisonment, making terroristic threats and two counts of using a firearm to commit a felony.
Lawrence is 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. He was dressed in all black and had a black backpack, Reitan said.
Hanes is 5-foot-5, 185 pounds. She has bleached-blond hair with multicolored highlights and green eyes. She was wearing a peach tank top and blue shorts, Reitan said.
Anyone who sees Lawrence, Hanes or the vehicle should not approach them, but call 911.
