Omaha police say they are investigating a number of robberies and one attempted robbery in which several people were held up over about a 5 1/2-hour period Tuesday night and early Wednesday, and whether the crimes are related.
No injuries were reported.
In most of the robberies, police said, the victims were on foot and they were approached by two to four men. Some of the victims reported spotting the suspects in a silver or blue sedan.
A firearm was displayed in many of the robberies, police said.
Among the robbery victims were five teenagers, including a 14-year-old.
The crimes began at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday and ended just after midnight at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday.
The robberies, according to police:
— Tuesday 7:40 p.m. North 30th and Douglas Streets. (reported), 29th and Farnam Streets (occurred); 14-year-old victim.
— Tuesday 9:34 p.m. 23rd and Davenport Streets; two 19-year-old victims.
— Tuesday 9:40 p.m. 23rd and Chicago Streets, 18-year-old victim.
— Tuesday 11:20 p.m. 72nd and Pacific Streets, 48-year-old victim.
— Tuesday 11:27 p.m. 67th and Frances Streets; no age listed.
— Tuesday 11:41 p.m. 72nd and Dodge Streets; 35-year-old victim.
— Wednesday 12:01 a.m. 61st and Maple Streets; 20-year-old victim.
— Wednesday 12:30 a.m. North 72nd Street and Sorensen Parkway (reported), 31st Street and Grand Avenue (possible scene, 26-year-old victim was uncooperative, police said).
— Wednesday 12:33 a.m. 65th and Shirley Streets; 18-year-old victim (attempted robbery).
— Wednesday 12:55 a.m. 35th and Dodge Streets; 29-year-old victim.
