Trailers: The summer of Ethan Hawke rages on
By Patrick Duprey / World-Herald staff writer

Chances are Ethan Hawke has had a better last few months than you.

The "Training Day" co-star's "Before Midnight" opened to independent fanfare and Academy Award prognostications in June, the same weekend as horror flick "The Purge," and its $3 million production budget, topped the domestic box office at $34 million.

This weekend brings us another Hawke flick, "Getaway," opposite the wizardly teenage pop star Selena Gomez and Jon Voight, an Academy Award winner. This pic, and its 1% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is only forecast to open to $8.5 million at domestic theaters over the four-day holiday weekend, though.

This weekend's projected new-release winner: Morgan Spurlock and One Direction. Spurlock, the acclaimed director of "Super Size Me," and producer Simon Cowell bring you behind the band's rise. Produced on a $10 million budget, the documentary's expected to draw $19 million in U.S. theaters this weekend.

Also in town are "Closed Circuit," a British surveillance thriller starring Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall, and, in some locations, "The Grandmaster," a martial-arts film. Oscar hopeful "Blue Jasmine," directed by Woody Allen, expands to more locations.
