SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Missouri State didn't have a shot on goal through 90 minutes of regulation against UNO on Sunday night.
The Bears became the aggressors in overtime, though, and Emmerich Hoegg's goal in the 102nd minute gave Missouri State a 1-0, double-overtime win over the Mavs.
UNO (0-2-1) outshot Missouri State 9-4 in regulation and had the match's only three shots on goal. Mav goalie Matt Grosey turned away the Bears' first shot on goal -- also by Hoegg -- in the first 10-minute overtime. In the second overtime, Hoegg received a cross in the middle of the box from Cole Alexander and pushed it past Grosey to give the Bears (2-0) the win.
UNO plays next at 11 a.m. Sunday at the UNO Soccer Field.
