Prioritized investigations after the recent slayings of four people are the latest evidence of the agile law enforcement agency that the Omaha Police Department has become. The arrest of Nikko Jenkins followed a fast-tracked investigation. It shows that the department and its officers can act quickly when threats to public safety are imminent. In turn, the public responds more quickly now when Police Chief Todd Schmaderer asks for tips and says more people might be killed without their help. The department’s quick work is a credit to officers, investigators, staff and the chief.
