The Crossroads location of Charleston's Restaurant is open for business.
The restaurant, near 76th and Dodge Streets, is the second Omaha location for Charleston's; the other is just west of 132nd and Dodge.
Hours at the new location are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Gluten-free feast starts with pizza
The Omaha chapter of the Celiac Sprue Association is having a gluten-free pizza party tonight to celebrate National Celiac Awareness Day today.
The party will take place at the Godfather's Pizza in Aksarben Village, 2117 S. 67th St., and will have gluten-free pizza, breadsticks, chicken nuggets and brownies.
Diners can order pizza to eat in the restaurant or for carry-out or delivery. When ordering, tell the cashier you are supporting the association.
Godfather's will donate a portion of the revenue from the event back to the association. Raffle prizes will be given away during the 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. event.
The chapter will also have its second annual Gluten-Free Lifestyle Conference and fair on Oct. 12. The day's events will include a talk from a local doctor, David Thompson, who has celiac disease. The fair will feature gluten-free food and vendors with samples. Preregistration is required.

Craft cocktail dinner at Boiler Room
The Boiler Room Restaurant is hosting a craft cocktail dinner featuring Craft Distillers Inc. from Ukiah, Calif.
Christopher Stevens, from Craft Distillers, will be in Omaha on Sept. 17 along with small-batch, hand-distilled American spirits that bartender Clark Ross will use to create three drinks to be paired with a four-course dinner. The spirits will include Germain-Robin brandies, Russell Henry gins and Alipus mezcals. The menu will include ingredients appropriate for the change of season from summer to fall.

La Casa fights childhood hunger
La Casa is raising money for Share Our Strength, a community-based organization that fights child hunger.
The restaurant will donate 10 percent of the sales of its specialty pizzas to the organization during Sept. 17-22.
Share our Strength will use the money to connect kids with food at locations around the country through community organizations.

Benson festival offers beer, music
The Benson Community Garden is having its third annual “Benson Oktoberfest” this weekend, which will include music, beer, food and a silent auction.
The event takes place from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sept. 14 in the Benson Community Garden, 1302 N. 60th St., and admission is $10. All the proceeds benefit the garden.
