Nonprofit The Literacy Center has been selected as the Nebraska finalist in the fifth annual Tom’s of Maine “50 States for Good” community giving program, making it eligible to win $10,000 to put toward its mission of empowering adults and families through literacy education.
You can vote for The Literacy Center at 50StatesforGood.com through Oct. 15.
The 50 States For Good program was created to uncover local nonprofit groups addressing community needs and engaging volunteers in their causes. Non-profit finalists from each state were selected from a pool of nearly 1,000 nominations by an independent panel of judges. Fifteen nonprofits will be chosen to receive $10,000 each.
Last year’s national winner was inCOMMON Community Development, also based in Omaha.
Tom’s of Maine creates and sells natural products including toothpaste, deodorant and soap.
