DES MOINES — Iowa's health care marketplace will offer some of the lowest premiums in the country, according to rate information released Friday.
The data from the Iowa Insurance Division back up Insurance Commissioner Nick Gerhart, who made remarks earlier this month about the relatively low premiums for the marketplace compared with many other states.
Three age-specific applicants — a 21-year-old, a 45-year-old and a 62-year-old — are used in the sample information to show Iowa residents their options for the marketplace, also known as an exchange.
Rates can differ widely depending on age, location and characteristics, such as whether a person smokes tobacco.
