Von Maur, the upscale, Iowa-based retailer, will open a new store next month in a suburb of Rochester, New York.
The new Von Maur department store will open Oct. 26 at Eastview Mall in Victor, New York.
The 140,000-square-foot store will be the retailer’s first New York location and the first in the Northeast. Local contractors reconstructed a former Bon Ton location to achieve Von Maur’s signature exterior brick facade and arching entryways.
“It is truly a tremendous milestone for us to break in to the Northeast and bring our unique style, service and selection to an entirely new customer base,” company president Jim von Maur said in a statement.
Von Maur, which offers men’s, women’s and children’s apparel from such brands as Brooks Brothers, Nic & Zoe, Joe’s Jeans and Tommy Bahama, was founded in Davenport in the late 1800s.
The family-owned company now operates 27 stores in 11 states, including stores in Lincoln and Omaha, and an online business at vonmaur.com. The Rochester-area store will be the company’s 28th store.
Von Maur plans to open a store in Alabama in November and an Oklahoma location in November 2014.
