Dozens of women and children learned ways to defend themselves in a class held to honor an Omaha woman who was shot to death in August.
Family, friends and strangers attended the self-defense benefit on Saturday. The two-hour class was held as a fundraiser for the family of Andrea Kruger, who was killed on her way home from work.
Authorities have charged 26-year-old Nikko Jenkins with her murder and his uncle, Warren Levering, as an accessory in her death.
Kruger's sister-in-law, Lori Roberts, said the benefit was designed to empower women. The event raised a few thousand dollars for the Kruger Family.
