LINCOLN (AP) — The Nebraska Department of Economic Development has awarded more than $950,000 in grants for housing projects.
The department announced Wednesday that Fillmore County is receiving $229,000 for a home-ownership opportunity program for eight homeowners who make less than the area’s median family income.
Blue Valley Community Action, a nonprofit in Fairbury, has received $500,000 for two home programs in Jefferson and other nearby counties. One will help rehabilitate owner-occupied homes, and the other is a home-ownership opportunity program.
The group NeighborWorks in Lincoln will use $221,000 for a down-payment assistance program.
