SIOUX CITY — A man who shot a Sioux City police officer in April now faces federal robbery, carjacking and firearms charges.
Jamal Dean, 22, of Sioux City was charged in Sioux City’s federal court late Thursday.
His brother and a female friend also face similar federal charges.
Authorities said Dean and his brother broke into a Sioux City home and beat and robbed a resident at gunpoint in April. A few days later, Dean shot Officer Kevin McCormick, who survived.
Dean was sentenced to 25 years in prison for attempted murder in the shooting.
The federal indictment spells out a conspiracy by Jamal Dean, Levon Dean and Sarah Berg to rob drug dealers of drugs, cash and other possessions, including cars, at gunpoint.
