Andrea Kruger's colleagues and friends have rallied around the homicide victim's family by organizing multiple fundraisers.
On the Rocks, where she worked nearly eight years, will sponsor two benefits for her husband, Michael-Ryan Kruger, and children, Jadyn, Ava and Hartley.
The first, an online auction, will begin Tuesday and run through Oct. 11, said Brian Houston, owner of On the Rocks. He said Proxibid.com will cover card-processing fees so that all proceeds can go to the Krugers.
Although bidding starts Tuesday, you can view the 200-plus items now at www.proxibid.com/andreakruger. That's also where the bidding will be done.
On the Rocks, 168th and Harrison Streets, also will sponsor a 21-and-older outdoor party Oct. 12.
Doors will open at 4 p.m., Houston said, and the first of five bands will begin playing at 5 p.m. The music will last through 11:30 p.m. Proceeds from all sales and raffles will go to the Kruger family, he said.
TGI Fridays at Westroads Mall will donate 25 percent of pretax bills all day Oct. 13, if the customer presents a flier stating that. To download a flier, visit www.facebook.com/ontherocksomaha, said Julie Ritzman, On the Rocks manager.
Ryan Roberts, Kruger's brother, is part of another fundraising event for the family. He will be the main event in Victory Fighting Championship 41 at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at Ralston Arena, 7300 Q St. in Ralston. A portion of ticket sales will go to the family.
Ralston Arena's ticket office is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. Evening, weekend and holiday hours vary. To buy tickets online, visit www.homepridetix.com. To charge tickets by phone, call 800-440-3741.
The Andrea Kruger Memorial Fund has been established at Pinnacle Bank. Donations to the account can be made at any Pinnacle Bank location.
Deja Vu Lounge, Kruger's employer at the time of her death, hosted a Friday fundraiser. The Cove Lounge and Grille sponsored an earlier fundraiser.
Andrea Kruger, 33, was killed Aug. 21 while returning home from her bartending shift at the Deja Vu Lounge near 178th and Pacific Streets. Several people have been charged in connection with her death.
Her body, shot multiple times, was found in the middle of 168th Street near Fort Street about 2:15 a.m.
