A 23-year-old bicyclist was critically injured Tuesday night after he ran a stop sign and struck a motorist's vehicle at a north Omaha intersection, police say.
The accident occurred about 6:15 p.m. at North 37th Street and Paxton Boulevard, police said.
Authorities determined that bicyclist Demarco Williams of Omaha was southbound on 37th Street and approaching Paxton Boulevard. Williams crashed into the side of a westbound Chevrolet HHR driven by Glenn Moore, 45, of Omaha shortly after the cyclist ran the stop sign, police said.
Williams was taken to Nebraska Medical Center in critical condition with possible head and neck injuries and a broken left leg, police said. Williams' injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, authorities said.
