The Richman Gordman Zooland Animals are coming back.
The four children's playground animals — Vicki the Kangaroo, Gus the Hippo, Heidi the Camel and Gordy the Elephant — have been absent from the Omaha Children's Museum this summer because they needed a little rejuvenation.
“They took a 'vacation' mostly because they have just had so much wear and tear due to their popularity that they needed to get refurbished,” said Michelle Chartrand, director of advancement at the museum.
“It's absolutely amazing how many people play on them each day so it was nice to give them a break this summer to get some minor fixes and a fresh paint job. We were shocked at how many phone calls and emails we got, however, once they were gone. So we're excited to have them back.”
The animals will be welcomed back officially with a VIP opening from 6 to 8 p.m, Friday. For more information, visit www.ocm.org.
