DAVENPORT — Authorities said a man shot last week by a Davenport police officer was armed with a BB gun.
Two officers were responding to a burglary report Thursday when they encountered Ryan Adam Franklin, 21, of Davenport in an alley. The officers reported that the shooting occurred after Franklin disobeyed orders to stop and reached for a gun in his waistband.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office said the gun turned out to be a BB gun.
Franklin remains at a Davenport hospital after undergoing surgery.
Police said the officers involved were Michael Jacobsen and Thomas Runge. Both have been placed on routine administrative leave while the investigation continues.
