Members of the Historical Downtown Papillion Business Association have teamed up to host a fall festival for the City of Papillion.
The festival on Oct. 19 will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the First Street Plaza.
“We really wanted to take advantage of the fall weather and do something fun around the harvest time,” said Kim Ahlers, president of the Historical Downtown Papillion Business Association.
The event will feature seasonal music, food, crafts and other fall festivities.
A beverage stand will offer hot apple cider, coffee, water and other drinks by Tripointe Coffee.
HyVee will provide a sweet treat stand with donuts, caramel apples and cupcakes. The grocery store will also have a display of pumpkins for sale.
Lunch provided by Dort’s will include smoked turkey legs, hot dogs and chips.
Kajoma’s Boutique will host a fall fashion show at the plaza.
The festival will also feature community vendors.
Activities for children will include face painting, balloons and crafts. Sump Memorial Library will offer fall storytime and crafts.
Children 12 and under can also participate in a costume parade and contest.
A carved pumpkin contest is open to those residents age 10 and older.
Pumpkins will be dropped off and displayed all morning before winners are announced in the afternoon.
“We’re hoping that this is going to grow into a great community and family event,” Ahlers said.
In addition to the festival activities, the Historical Downtown Papillion Business Association will launch its business brochure and map at the event. Attendees will be invited to walk around the downtown Papillion stores.
“There’s a lot of hidden treasures and businesses tucked away in downtown Papillion that people aren’t aware of,” Ahlers said.
