Last night, Bellevue competitive eater Molly Schuyler made the Stellanator -- the colossal burger that started her amazing food challenge run -- look like a snack.
Schuyler mowed through 240 hot wings at the Council Bluffs location of Quaker Steak and Lube, breaking the record for the most wings ever eaten at any of the restaurant's locations.
Schuyler said this morning that she really pushed herself to break the record. She described the wings as "jumbo" and said six or seven of them weigh about a pound. She ate 25 pounds of the wings in two hours.
"I stopped at 200," she said. "But then I realized I was so close to the record, so I started again."
The restaurant's corporate office years ago created what it thought was an unreachable record: 237 wings. After Schuyler ate 238 wings last night, the restaurant started calling other locations to find out who held the actual record and couldn't find anyone who did. But Schuyler broke it either way.
"They are in shock," she said.
She said she felt awful after she finished.
"I will say I have never been more sick in my life," she said.
Schuyler will next appear at the Bierhaus NYC national Oktoberfest bratwurst-eating championship. Challengers will eat as many brats as they can in eight minutes at the contest, which takes place in New York on Oct. 26.
