Downtown Omaha rolled out a new brand Friday.
A skywalk on Douglas Street between 15th and 16th Streets showed off the new logo: “DO! Downtown Omaha.”
The brand, which was developed by the Downtown Improvement District with help from Rebel Interactive, has already been worked into gift cards and the downtown Omaha Facebook page, said Joe Gudenrath, executive director of the Downtown Improvement District.
Eventually, the brand will be a part of signs hanging from street lights, too, he said.
“There was an image, a catchphrase, a slogan that demostrated everything downtown has,” Gudenrath said. “We look at this as a way to celebrate everything downtown has to offer.”
Gudenrath said he believes this is the first branding effort specific to downtown Omaha.
The logo, which highlights the 'O' in a distinct style, is reminiscent of the popular “O!” logo the Chamber of Commerce has used for a number of years.
Gudenrath said that wasn't necessarily a goal of the effort, but he sees the two complementing one another.
“It's one of those things that, in hindsight, made sense,” he said.
