A 29-year-old Carter Lake, Iowa, man was critically injured Monday night in a single-vehicle traffic accident on Interstate 80 about half-way between Omaha and Lincoln.
Jacob Ebers was taken by medical helicopter to Creighton University Medical Center in critical condition after the crash that occurred about 9 p.m. near Mahoney State Park.
Deb Collins of the Nebraska State Patrol said Ebers, who was alone in the 1999 GMC Jimmy, was cited for driving under the influence.
Ebers was eastbound on I-80 when the SUV veered off the roadway, rolled and ended up on its top in the south ditch, she said.
Eastbound I-80 was closed for about 30 minutes for the helicopter's landing and takeoff, Collins said.
His condition at the hospital was not released Tuesday morning.
Officials said Monday night that Ebers' injuries were life-threatening.
The patrol said the cause of the crash remained under investigation.
