A 78-year-old Omaha woman suffered facial injuries early Tuesday when an intruder entered a home near 20th and Hascall Streets and assaulted her.
Officer Michael Pecha, a police spokesman, said the woman was taken to the Creighton University Medical Center about 12:45 a.m. A hospital spokeswoman said she was listed in serious condition.
The victim told police officers that she heard a noise at the front door about 12:30 a.m. When she went to the door, a man with a blunt object kicked it open, Pecha said.
The man then struck her head and attempted to take a TV. He left without taking any property.
The victim told police that she is familiar with her assailant. No arrest had been announced by mid-morning and the man's name was not released .
