Now when Omahans dine at local Red Lobster restaurants, they'll be reminded of the East Coast – at least, that's the goal. The chain's area restaurants, including the two Omaha locations and one location in Council Bluffs, have recently undergone renovations in a style inspired by the New England coast as part of a national program to overhaul some 700 restaurants.
The "Bar Harbor" redesign includes new exterior features, such as stonework, ship lanterns and Adirondack-style chairs outside.
Each remodel costs about $300,000 to $500,000, a spokeswoman said.
The chain's new "Sea Food Differently" marketing campaign also includes featuring real Red Lobster employees in commercials, the introduction of wood-fire grills in the restaurants and the expansion of its fresh fish menu.
