JEFFERSON, Iowa (AP) — Police in Jefferson have arrested three teenage boys in connection with arson fires that destroyed a school bus and damaged a building.
Jefferson Police Chief Dave Morlan said officers arrested two 15-year-olds and a 17-year-old on arson and burglary charges.
The arrests stem from fires Oct. 21 that destroyed a school bus parked in a district lot and heavily damaged a 3½-story building.
The Associated Press doesn't generally identify juveniles charged with crimes.
Police also charged the teens with offenses related to a railroad signal being placed on tracks, leaves set aflame on middle school property, a trash can set on fire in a park, the theft of a bicycle and a theft from a Dollar General store.
The boys were referred to juvenile court services.
