Two people were seriously injured and a motorist was ticketed in a two-vehicle traffic accident Friday morning in Omaha.
Police said the crash occurred about 10:40 a.m. at 13th Street and Missouri Avenue.
Gwen Bennett, 53, of Council Bluffs, driving a 1989 Ford F-150 pickup truck, was northbound on 13th Street, police said, and had a green light. A 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Martha Perez De Leyva, 59, of Omaha was eastbound on Missouri Avenue and ran the red light, striking the pickup, police said.
Both drivers were taken to Nebraska Medical Center. Bennett and Perez De Leyva both suffered head injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.
Police said Perez De Leyva was cited for violating a traffic signal.
Excessive speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash, police said.
