Dodge County authorities have identified two men who were killed and four others who were injured Saturday in a head-on collision about a mile west of Fremont.
Dodge County Sheriff Steve Hespen said Tuesday that Aurelio Vicente Vicente, 22, of Grand Island and Johnny Sanchez Escalante, 36, of Fremont were pronounced dead at the scene.
All of the injured were taken to the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha.
Investigators said the accident occurred about 11:15 p.m. when a westbound 1995 Toyota 4Runner crossed the center line on U.S. Highway 30 and collided with an eastbound 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix.
The driver of the Toyota, Vicente Vicente, and a back-seat passenger in the Pontiac, Sanchez Escalante, were killed.
Edvin Vicente Ralios, 20, of Schuyler, a passenger in the Toyota, was in serious condition Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The driver of the Pontiac, Juan Rabanalas, 30, of Fremont, is in fair condition, she said. Manalo Vasquez, 19, of Fremont, who is in serious condition, and Walfred Mendez, 26, of Fremont, who has been released, were also passengers in the Pontiac.
