LINCOLN (AP) — A 19-year-old Lincoln man has been accused of helping beat to death two people in Lincoln this past summer.
Court records say Richard McLaughlin III faces two weapons and two accessory charges. He's being held in Lancaster County Jail. Online court records don't list the name of his attorney.
Lincoln Police Chief Jim Peschong said Wednesday that McLaughlin is suspected of having ties to a gang called True Blue Soldiers that targeted the two victims. The two were identified as Nathan "Shane" Walton, 20, and David Mueller, 27.
Walton was found beaten near his home on June 29. He died July 2. Mueller was found that same morning on a street north of downtown Lincoln. He died on July 7.
No other arrests have been reported in the case.
