The UNO women’s basketball team used a 15-4 run midway through the second half to take control of a back-and-forth game and get a 76-62 win over Chicago State on Monday at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Ericka House led the Mavs (2-2) with 19 points, while Mikaela Shaw had 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
The Mavs battled back from a slow start to take a 35-28 lead into halftime. UNO started 1 of 7 from the floor in falling behind 9-4, but responded with a five straight points.
Chicago State opened the second half with a 9-0 run, eventually taking 42-39 lead with 14:36 left. House got the Mavs going again with two 3-pointers, and UNO took a 45-44 lead. After a Paris Williams free throw tied the game, UNO went on a 15-4 run to grab a 60-49 lead with 7:26 to play. The Mavs led by as many as 16 late in the game.
