Though no Nebraska colleges made the list, a couple of Big Ten schools boast some of the best university fitness centers in the country, according to bestvalueschools.com.
University of Iowa and Ohio State University both made the list.
Iowa's wellness center, which was built in 2010, includes a rock climbing wall and pool complex. The editors praised Iowa's aquatic center as the highlight of the $53 million facility.
Ohio State University's weight room made it a top contender on the list. It helped that Men's Fitness magazine named OSU the fittest college in America. Its recreation center cost $140 million.
The editors looked for facilities that “offered both outstanding opportunities for physical recreation and also exceptional attention to design detail and aesthetics,” the website said. To read more about the campus recreation centers and see the full list, click here.
