HARLAN, Iowa — The Harlan City Council approved Iowa Western Community College's purchase of city-owned property for a science lab.
The lab is scheduled for completion in January, said Don Kohler, Iowa Western vice president of marketing and communications. The property was owned by the city but was not in use, said City Administrator Terry Cox.
The lab is among projects at Iowa Western's campuses that are being financed by a $22.5 million bond issue approved by voters last year.
Iowa Western paid $238,260 for the space, and renovations will cost $80,000, Kohler said.
