Valley, Neb., authorities were investigating a stabbing late Monday in Valley that left one person criticallly injured.
The stabbing occurred a little after 9 p.m. at the Platte Valley Apartments at 712 S. West St., Valley Police Chief Brett Smith said Tuesday.
Zach Turner was taken to Creighton University Medical Center in critical condition, Douglas County 911 emergency dispatchers said. Tuesday morning, Creighton said he was in fair condition.
Smith said Turner is a resident of Valley but does not live at the apartment complex at 712 Southwest Street. Smith said he did not know Turner's age.
The chief said his department was early in its investigation of the stabbing, and he also said he was to view apartment complex surveillance video from Monday night.
Smith said Turner told authorities that he was visiting friends at the complex when he was stabbed eight times. The chief said Turner told a Valley police officer that he was crossing the apartment complex's courtyard when two men got out of a car and attacked him. Smith said the stabbing may have occurred in the courtyard or in a parking lot.
Douglas County sheriff's deputies assisted Valley police in Monday night's initial investigation of the stabbing.
