LINCOLN — Omaha attorney John Stalnaker has announced that he will run to represent west-central Omaha’s District 6 in the Nebraska Legislature.
The district’s current representative, State Sen. John Nelson, is barred from seeking re-election in 2014 due to term limits.
Stalnaker, a 36-year-old Democrat, said his top priorities in the officially nonpartisan Legislature will be property tax relief, strengthening public schools and job creation.
A married father of two daughters, Stalnaker is making his first run for elective office. At least two other candidates, Joni Craighead and Justin Spooner, have announced plans to run for the post.
