Skating Rink Opens: Spend the weekend skating at UNMC’s public ice skating rink. The rink opens today, noon to 10 p.m., at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, between 42nd and 40th Streets and Dewey and Emile Streets. Admission including skate rental is $7. The rink will be open through Jan. 11. Visit www.unmc.edu/skate for daily hours.
Craft Fair: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Millard South High School, 14905 Q St. There will be more than 150 vendors onsite selling homemade items as well as baked goods and concessions. All proceeds will go to the Millard South athletic department.
Polish Christmas: Noon to 3 p.m., Sunday at the Polish Home, 201 E. First St., Papillion. Check out demonstrations of Polish arts and crafts. There will be an opportunity to make your own Polish ornament. At 1:30 p.m. there will be a Polish advent and Christmas customs presentation and Koledy or Polish carols with the St. Stanislaus Polish Choir. Enjoy some golabki, pierogi and other Polish foods, too.
Santa’s Sleigh Ride: At 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Santa’s sleigh leaves from La Vista City Hall, 8116 Park View Blvd. He’ll be west of 84th Street from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and east of 84th Street from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Visit www.cityoflavista.org/santa to see his exact route.
Holiday Preview: Noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. See a display of more than 90 trees decorated by local businesses at the Stuhr Museum, 3133 U.S. 34, Grand Island, Neb. There will also be a candy house-making activity, live holiday music and holiday shopping. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for children and free for members.
Poinsettia show: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., show runs through Jan. 5. Visit the gardens as they are decorated for the holidays.
