Colder-than-average weather is projected for the first half of December in the Midlands.
Despite November’s roller-coaster temperatures, the monthly average temperature was considered normal for the month.
Both November and the entire fall period of September through November were statistically near average for precipitation and temperature in much of the Midlands, according to the National Weather Service.
However, snowfall has generally been running behind. During the fall months of September through November, Omaha recorded 0.4 of an inch of snow, which was 2 inches below average.
» Almost all of Omaha’s November 1.06 inches of precipitation fell on a single day. On Nov. 5, 1 inch of precipitation fell, a daily record.
» Valentine, Neb., also set daily precipitation records on Nov. 5: 4 inches of snow and 0.28 of an inch of precipitation fell that day. Both were daily records. The snowfall record for Nov. 5 had been 1.4 inches and the precipitation record had been 0.14 of an inch.
