The Omaha school district has agreed to a $320,000 settlement with a man injured in an accident with a district school bus in 2011.
Edward Martin, 73, filed suit against the Omaha Public Schools in October, seeking damages related to an October 2011 car crash. Martin’s lawsuit contends that he was driving in the area of 72nd and Spaulding Streets when his car collided with an OPS bus driven by Larry Gonzales.
According to the suit, Gonzales was traveling west on Spaulding and tried to make a left-hand turn onto 72nd Street without yielding to oncoming traffic. Martin’s sedan struck the bus and was totaled.
The accident left Martin with “severe and disabling injuries,” including a neck injury that required surgery, and numerous medical bills, the lawsuit states.
