David Gau on Friday assumed the role of chief executive officer at Omaha-based Intersystems, according to the company's private equity owner.
Gau, an Omaha native, succeeds Tom Schroeder, who had remained as a consultant during the transition. The company is a developer and manufacturer of bulk materials handling equipment.
“In his previous role, (David) had responsibility for more than 26 countries, so he really knows how to take good companies and make them even bigger and better,” said Michael Nelson, investment partner at the Chicago-based Pritzker Group.
The Pritzker Group acquired Intersystems in December 2012 for an undisclosed amount.
Gau was most recently vice president of global commercial operations for Denver-based Gates Corp., a $2.9 billion industrial engineering firm with more than 14,000 employees.
With Gau at the helm, Nelson said the company plans to bolster its global presence, particularly in Ukraine, Brazil and China, among other emerging markets.
